The internet plays a big part in the growth and development of our learners, and plays an important part in their education. It is extremely important that everybody does what they can to ensure children are safe online, whilst at home and at school, ensuring children are taught how to use the internet correctly and safely.

We are extremely vigilant in ensuring our learners are well versed in the dangers of online interactions and potential pitfalls. Our Personal Development curriculum ensures that our students are aware of how to stay safe online and this is also covered in our KS3 Computer Science curriculum.

As parents/carers and teachers, we have an important role in ensuring children are given the tools in order to stay safe online. Doing this will significantly reduce the risk of cyber-bullying, exploitation, and radicalisation. At Burnley High School, we take this responsibility very seriously and we provide curriculum time to education students on the risks of being online as well as having appropriate filters and systems in place.

For further information about supporting your child in keeping safe online please visit the Parent Information section of the website where  you will find lots of useful sites to support you. Alternatively please contact your Childs Head Of Year at school.

“I love BHS because it really does feel like a family. All staff and students know each other, are extremely supportive of one another and show amazing levels of respect throughout the school. There really isn’t another school like it!”
