At Burnley High school the Science department provides a high-quality education, in line with the National Curriculum, which sets the foundations for understanding the world through the study of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

We recognise that improving educational outcomes is the most fundamental way we can positively impact our students’ futures and therefore, we have ensured that our curriculum is inclusive of pupils with a range of abilities.

Our curriculum aims to inspire our pupils by giving them the opportunities to empower their natural curiosity through investigating scientific phenomena. Through the study of the National Curriculum and additional content, pupils acquire core skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving and innovation, which they will be able to apply to the challenges of the ever-changing environment that we live in.

I love BHS because it really does feel like a family. All staff and students know each other, are extremely supportive of one another and show amazing levels of respect throughout the school. There really isn’t another school like it!”
